South Texas College Library and Art Department partner to offer exhibits in Rio Grande City.

Q & A and Reception: September 26th at 11:30 a.m.

South Texas College’s Library Art Gallery and Art Department partner to bring rotating exhibits and art talks to the Starr County region. In this first collaboration, local artist Jose Suarez displays nine of his paintings in the upstairs corridor gallery of the STC Starr County Academic Building.

Suarez attended South Texas College after graduation from Juarez-Lincoln High School in La Joya and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. In a baroque style that is rich in realism and dramatic lighting, Suarez paints theatrical scenes inspired by his life in the Rio Grande Valley.

A talk with the artist will take place on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 11:30 AM at the Starr County Campus Academic Building E, 142 FM 3167 in Rio Grande City, TX. Light refreshments will be provided. Admission is free and open to the public.

The exhibit opened on Sept. 10th and runs through Dec. 6, 2019.

STC’s Library Art Gallery Program organizes exhibitions and educational programs to engage student understanding of art, support academic curriculum, and inspire continued education through direct engagement with artists, scholars, and original works of art.
