Youths throughout the Rio Grande Valley are invited to participate in South Texas College’s 2024 Art & Memory Conference & Exhibition.

The STC Library Art Gallery is collaborating with STC’s Philosophy, Art and English departments to organize a youth call for artwork and poetry that focuses on a significant experience or emotion from the artist’s childhood or teenage years.

Art & Memory FlyerThese submissions will be included in STC’s 3rd Annual Art & Memory Conference held on April 2 – 4, 2024.

Andrés Molina Ochoa, Ph.D., conference organizer & STC assistant professor of Philosophy invites the public to dive into the realms of memory through artistic interpretation.

“This is the chance to illustrate moments, emotions and scenes that have left an indelible mark on the heart,” he said. “Let drawings and poetry become a window to the past, a visual memoir that speaks to the power of art in preserving cherished memories.”

The deadline to submit artwork and poetry is February 12 at 5 p.m. Artwork must be framed, and an entry form must accompany all entries.
