The Hispanic Heritage Month lecture series continues on October 7 at 7:00pm at the South Texas College, Pecan Campus, when author Gary Soto will present “Local News: the stories and poems of Gary Soto.” This presentation will be in the Rainbow Room on 2nd floor of Building F (STC Library). Poets and students of literature are encouraged to attend this presentation. A book signing will follow the talk.
Mr. Soto is the author of over 35 books, and his work has been published in five languages. He is the first American poet commissioned by Nasa to commemorate a shuttle launch, and is the first Mexican American to receive an MFA degree. A literary museum dedicated to his work opens this Fall in Fresno, CA.
