Hispanic Heritage Month Speakers

In coordination with the Center for Mexican American Studies and the Visual Arts and Music Department, we bring you information about our speaker series for Hispanic Heritage Month, featuring renowned artist Celeste De Luna, who will be discussing her exhibit “Nepantla: Art from the Four Corners of the Valley.”  Ms. De Luna teaches at STC and has had her artwork displayed throughout the United States.

Distinguished poets and authors Carmen Tafolla, Benjamin Saenz, and Daniel Chacon will be visiting and sharing their internationally recognized work.

We are also deeply honored to have a visit from Jose Angel Hernandez author of Mexican-American Colonization During the 19th Century and recipient of this year’s Americo Paredes Book Award.  He will join Arnoldo De Leon on a seperat occasion to mark the 30th anniversary of the book They Called Them Greasers with assistance from STC instructor Trinidad Gonzales.

To conclude the speaker series, director and producer John J. Valadez will be showing a part of the landmark PBS series The Latino Americans.
