How to get—and use—a library card
STC students
Simply show your current student ID card at the Circulation desk of any campus library. ID cards are issued at each campus Student Information Center or Student Activities Center.
STC faculty, staff, and alumni
Show your staff or Alumni Association card, together with a driver license or a piece of mail for address verification, at the Circulation desk. Instructors without a staff card will be asked to verify their affiliation with the College.
Community Users
You need to be at least 18 years of age and to present a Texas Driver License or a Texas Identification Card at the Circulation desk. After filling out a short form asking for your address and phone as well as those of another local contact (employer, family, friend, or neighbor), you will receive a card that you and others in your family can use to borrow library materials.
Privileges and loan limits
STC students, staff, alumni, and Community Users may have up to ten items on loan at any given time. Faculty may borrow an unlimited number of items. All are welcome to use our research databases within the library (computers are open to all cardholders), but remote database access from off campus is available only to STC students, faculty, and staff. The same is true of inter-library loan service, though all users are invited to request inter-campus delivery of items held at other STC libraries. Below are the loan periods and late fees for all types of library materials:
