South Texas College’s Pecan Campus Library Art Gallery presents “Rostros” (Faces) where his characters come from the world of modeling and bullfighting. The decision to use these sources was easy and obvious to find beauty in their personality, as well as their gestures and in their facial structures. The exhibit opens, Thursday, February 5, 2015 and will be on view through May 15, 2015. The Pecan Campus Library Art Gallery is located at 3201 W. Pecan, 2nd Floor, McAllen, Texas. Admission is free and open to the public.

Mr. Ricardo Benavides is a graduate of The University of Texas Pan American where he received a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in 2006. In 2014 he obtained his Masters of Fine Arts from at the University of Texas Pan American.

The exhibit displays paintings of acrylic and oil. Mr. Benavidez’ objective with this exhibit is for the viewers to enjoy the beauty of his characters, sensuality and at the same time the post modern aesthetic that he has tried to capture in his series entitled “Rostros” (Faces).

South Texas College’s Library Art Gallery Program exhibits, regional, national and international artwork, explores new visions and theories of creativity and introduces innovative artistic expressions to the South Texas region.
